The Nackawic and Area Wellness Committee Volunteer of the month for August 2025, Rahshida Atkinson and Derek Atkinson
Rashida and Derek Atkinson go above and beyond in their roles as basketball coaches. They dedicate countless hours to coaching, planning, and ensuring that every child has fun at practices and games. In addition to developing skills on the court, they organize team-building activities on their own time and consistently foster a positive and inclusive environment.
They keep a close eye on fairness and make a point of supporting students who may be left out or picked on. Their commitment spans across multiple age groups, coaching elementary, middle school girls and boys, and high school boys teams. Without their involvement, many of these opportunities simply would not be available to the youth in our community.
Their leadership, dedication, and heart make a lasting impact.
For over 60 years, Danny has been a dedicated part of our community. His consistent support at The Gathering Place has been invaluable, and he’s cheered on countless local hockey and volleyball teams along the way. A fascinating conversationalist, Danny always brings insight and good humour to every chat. Thank you, Danny, for your kindness, encouragement, and service

🖍️ We can’t wait to color with you!
Our June volunteer of the month is Diane Ridley! Diane and her husband Trevor have resided in Hartfield for over 50 years. She volunteers within the community, her church and at The Gathering Place. She drops into The Gathering Place regularly and often brings treats, counts money, waters the plants, does whatever needs doing, and makes everyone feel at home at The Gathering Place. Thanks, Diane, for all you do!
The NAW Spring Tea was a wonderful success — thank you to all the amazing volunteers and everyone who joined us for tea and delicious treats!
We loved seeing the community come together, and we’re already thinking ahead to future gatherings.
